Oli was born in 1952 in the village of Jhimpa, Terhathum District, Nepal. He studied at Himalaya Secondary School and Tribhuvan University. After graduating, he joined the Communist Party of Nepal (United Marxist–Leninist) in 1974.

Oli was imprisoned for 14 years during the Panchayat era for his political activities. He was released in 1987 and became a central committee member of the party. In 1990, he was elected to the Nepalese Parliament.

Oli served as Prime Minister of Nepal for the first time from 2015 to 2016. He was re-elected as Prime Minister in 2018 and served until 2021. He was again elected as Prime Minister in May 2021, but was forced to resign in July 2021 after losing a vote of confidence in Parliament.

Oli is a controversial figure in Nepali politics. He is known for his strong stance on national sovereignty and his willingness to take on the Indian government. He is also a strong advocate for economic development and social justice.

Oli's political career has been marked by both successes and failures. He has been credited with helping to bring peace to Nepal after the decade-long Maoist insurgency. He has also overseen significant economic growth in Nepal. However, he has also been criticized for his handling of the 2015 Nepal blockade and for his authoritarian style of leadership.

Oli remains a popular figure in Nepali politics. He is seen by many as a strong leader who is not afraid to stand up for what he believes in. However, he is also a polarizing figure who has been criticized for his lack of transparency and his willingness to use force to achieve his goals.

Oli's Legacy

KP Sharma Oli is a complex and controversial figure who has had a significant impact on Nepali politics. His legacy will be debated for many years to come. However, there is no doubt that he is one of the most important figures in Nepali history.

Oli's supporters argue that he is a strong leader who has helped to bring peace and stability to Nepal. They point to his role in the peace process with the Maoists and his efforts to improve the country's economy. They also argue that he is a nationalist who is not afraid to stand up for Nepal's interests, even when it means taking on the Indian government.

Oli's critics argue that he is an authoritarian leader who is more interested in power than in democracy. They point to his use of force to suppress dissent and his willingness to dissolve Parliament. They also argue that he is a poor economic manager who has failed to deliver on his promises of development.
